Job Description:

Seneca Solutions is looking to hire an experienced Solar Project Manager.  Seneca Solutions has corporate offices in Chantilly, VA and Williamsville, NY but the Solar Project Manager can be based anywhere domestically.


Project Developer:

The ideal candidate is an organized and seasoned project manager with direct experience overseeing construction of solar, battery energy storage and microgrids. The ideal fit for this position will be someone who has project development experience in the commercial and industrial (C&I) market. The Project Developer will work with various project partners, contractors, vendors, utilities, landowners, investors, and community stakeholders.


This position will be responsible for driving new business and the project development process for renewable energy projects across the US from initial concept through client contract.  You will be responsible for making and supporting proposals to successfully position renewables to clients. To be successful in this position, you must have a solid understanding of system interconnection, utility metering policy, project development challenges and strategies for de-risking renewable energy projects.  Ideally, you are knowledgeable in renewable energy State, City, County, Utility, Federal, and other policies affecting Renewable offerings in relevant geographic area(s).



  • Identify and research potential prospective customers
  • Converting leads and prospects to business
  • Presenting and discussing proposals with customers
  • Manage and maintain customer relationships
  • Identify and build relationships with vendors and contractors related to the construction of solar and energy storage projects
  • Prepare construction cost estimates for projects in early development for financial modeling purposes
  • Negotiate engineering, procurement and construction contracts with material vendors, contractors, and project partners
  • Manage contractors and vendors through the construction of the project to achieve commercial operation for the project on time and on budget
  • Help establish project specific budgets and corporate metrics related to construction of projects and manage to those goals
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects


  • Experience in solar energy and storage
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, economics, or equivalent business experience required
  • Demonstrable experience successfully negotiating transactions
  • Sophisticated understanding of the environmental and utility regulatory environment
  • Experience managing development and construction budgets and processes
  • Rigorous attention to detail, work ethic, personal responsibility, work product ownership and organizational skills
  • Strong business development acumen and exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including process new information quickly
  • Knowledge of renewable energy financing arrangements including PPAs, tax-exempt leases, loans, proformas, and utility incentive programs
  • NABCEP, CEM, LEED, CPM, Six Sigma, other certifications a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Detail orientated
  • Strong customer-facing skills
  • Spreadsheet proficiency
  • Ability to problem solve
