Job Description:

Seneca Global Services is looking to hire a Senior Data Architect to support our government client. This position is located in Falls Church, VA.  This position requires an active Secret clearance.

The candidate will support a large DoD IT program as part of the Program Management Office (PMO) through projects/initiatives as directed by the Government.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Lead the planning, coordination and execution of data projects from requirements analysis through development, test, and deployment following best management practices for agile, waterfall and hybrid projects, based on type of project assigned
  • Consult with customers regarding the analysis and design of systems and solutions
  • Identify opportunities to streamline customers' data and processes, and create opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Provide direct support to Government Program/Project Managers to plan and execute IT projects that include mainframe applications, web applications, database/middleware technologies and supporting infrastructures
  • Support solution development by conducting source system data analysis and integrating data to meet functional requirements
  • Model/develop design specs to implement curated data result sets and support testing
  • Coordinate with data ops priorities and issues with platform teams and validate data quality
  • Support data management activities including data model development and business logic documentation, updates to data catalog and metadata repository, and establishing a scalable data architecture consistent with best practices
  • Provide experienced knowledge and/or develop competency on various data platforms
  • Stay on top of trends and/or develop expertise in emerging technologies




  • Must have active SECRET clearance (an Interim Secret is acceptable).
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science from an accredited college or university
  • 10+ years of professional experience, including experience managing data projects/initiatives in a DoD environment, including technical risk management and cost/schedule/performance responsibility
  • 10+ years managing business intelligence and data integration projects involving all aspects of program/technical project management
  • Must have a strong background in software development lifecycles, including waterfall, traditional, and agile.
  • A prior history managing projects involving at least two of the following technical areas is required: 1) business intelligence and data science, 2) data integration in support of legacy mainframe modernization, OR 3) data analysis in support of application consolidation/rationalization.
  • A strong data architecture background, with the ability to understand data flows, and visualize data transactions and interfaces.
  • Proactive approach to working any task to support the team, as the program and various project teams are very dynamic and are staffed by contractor resources from different companies as well as civilians. 
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in order to understand business requirements and translate to IT functionality, and work with multiple groups of stakeholders. Writing samples may be requested.
  • Ability to work independently in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. 


Desired Qualifications:

  • Enterprise Architecture experience in a government setting (preferably DoD)
  • Some knowledge of or background in Foreign Military Sales is helpful
  • SharePoint experience
