SNG has an immediate opening for a qualified CostPoint Enterprise Reporting & Cognos specialist with significant accounting experience. Report to Chief Financial Officer.

The Deltek CER Report Writer works in conjunction with the Accounting, Project Controls, and Operation teams to develop and support reports through Deltek CER/Costpoint Business Intelligence. This position is responsible for end-to-end report development including interaction with end users to gather requirements, understanding report objectives, defining design and developing reports and documentation using Deltek CER and Cognos and delivering reports to end users (including training end users on report writing).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Report Writing

  • Apply advanced accounting and technical skills to perform routine and/or non-routine tasks to implement accounting ERP systems or providing business intelligence services
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across the organization for Deltek Costpoint reports, queries, analysis and dashboards
  • Work closely with the key business stakeholders, IT, and the user community to enable meaningful access to data from the Costpoint application
  • Apply advanced accounting skills to perform and/or oversee routine and non-routine tasks involving the processing and reconciliation of receivables, billing, payroll, accounts payable, contract revenue calculations, contract cost accumulation and reporting, indirect rate calculations, fixed assets, general ledger, preparing financial statements, and supporting compliance audits
  • Examining & evaluating purpose & content of the existing business reports in different systems and develop their respective Deltek Costpoint reports or create a new one
  • Maintain knowledge of business processes, application design and understand cross-functional business relationships and their use of information
  • Lead the development of business and functional requirements for reports
  • Design, develop, test and implement Deltek Costpoint reports as necessary to fulfill business requirements.
  • Design & optimize test plans for unit, integration & user acceptance tests for new or optimized reports created in Deltek Costpoint CER.
  • Create & maintain reports documentation including origin & report flow, format, frequency, distribution & purpose of report and recommend improvements related to the format, use & control.
  • Identify, communicate & resolve issues related to Deltek Costpoint reports while maintaining an established service level
  • Provide and facilitate training to Deltek Costpoint CER to users and develop training materials
  • Integrate data from other applications as required to meet end-user needs
  • Perform implementation tasks in adherence to established controls/procedures; may conduct research and analysis to resolve issues or develop new processes and procedures
  • Prepare updates and status reports
  • Responsible for meeting assigned deliverables for assigned projects
  • Work under minimal supervision.

Accounting

  • Apply advanced accounting skills to perform and/or oversee routine and non-routine tasks involving the processing and reconciliation of receivables, billing, payroll, accounts payable, contract revenue calculations, contract cost accumulation and reporting, indirect rate calculations, fixed assets, general ledger, preparing financial statements, and supporting compliance audits
  • Monitors cash flow in accordance with SNG’s needs
  • Process and/or review AP/Billing/Payroll, assess internal controls
  • Conduct research & analysis; billed and unbilled receivable analysis and revenue recognition

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting required; knowledge of government contract accounting principles and FAR strongly preferred
  • Proficient in computers and standard office applications (specifically in Microsoft Excel)
  • Proficient with accounting and report writing package of Deltek Costpoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management skills required

  • Previous work within a government contracting environment
